Mark A. Heaton, age 63, of Fredericktown, Ohio, passed away on Saturday August 30, 2014 at the Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Mount Vernon, Ohio, on April 26, 1951 to the late Harry and Barbara (Schonauer) Heaton.

Mark was employed by Hot Tech Inc. where he was a skilled mason and union brick layer for over 40 years. He graduated from Fredericktown High School in 1969, playing football. After high school, Mark attended Baldwin Wallace College and was a place kicker on the football team. Mark had a passion for cooking, the outdoors, traveling, but most of all he loved to spend time with his family and friends.

Mark is survived by his daughter, Heidi Thompson of Mount Vernon; a son, Mark (Rita) Heaton Jr. of Sunbury; 3 grandchildren, Taylee Thompson, Zain and Rhea Heaton; a brother, Jim (Shawn) Heaton of Hilliard; 2 sisters, Linda (Cless) Overly of Georgia and Kimberly (David) Hammock of Missouri; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends from 5-6 p.m. with a memorial service at 6 p.m. on Monday September 8, 2014 at the Palmyra Church of Christ in Fredericktown; 21184 Zolman Road, Fredericktown, OH 43019, with Evangelist Troy Northrop officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family of Mark Heaton.
