Mark A. Buckingham, age 62 of Lewis Center, died at home Friday, November 21, 2003.

He was born on April 30, 1941 in Johnstown and was a graduate of Olentangy High School Class of 1959. He had worked for the former Elephant Lumber Company in Delaware, managed the former Delaware Farmers Exchange Lumber Division, and was a co-owner of the Homestead Lumber Company until 1988. For the past 6 years he has owned and operated the Powell Subway.

A true western buff, Mark enjoyed horses, history and western movies.

He was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Survived by his wife of 43 years, Mary Ellen McNamara Buckingham, whom he married June 18, 1960; his mother Gertrude McKenzie Buckingham of Delaware; a daughter Carol (Jamie) Kilgore of Delaware; two sons Mark (Denise Nolan) Buckingham of Delaware, and Jeff (Donita) Buckingham of Richwood; three grandchildren Brandon Kilgore, Tyler and Maria Buckingham; and two brothers Jim Buckingham of Ostrander and George (Peg) Buckingham, Jr. of Delaware.

His father George E. Buckingham preceded him in death.

Friends may call at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 75 W. William St., Delaware on Monday from 4-8 p.m., with prayer services at 4:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Church, Delaware, Fr. Kevin Kavanagh Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.
