Marjorie E. “Margie” Fontana, age 86 of Delaware formerly of Johnstown, Pennsylvania died late Monday evening, March 17, 2008.

She was born on April 24, 1921 in Freeport, Pennsylvania to the late William G. and Lula M. (Culp) Jackson. A graduate of Apollo High School, she moved to Ohio from Florida in 1998.

Very supportive of her children, she was a homemaker and very independent. Described as small but mighty with a humorous side, she was a true “spit fire”. She enjoyed reading; especially love stories and mystery novels. Animals, especially dogs held a special place in her heart, as did music.

Her first husband David E. Conner was killed during World War II and her second husband Gaitano “Don” Fontana preceded her in death in 1979.

She is survived by daughter Dee Fontana and adopted daughter Faith Callison of Dublin, son Richard J. (Lea) Fontana of Johnstown, PA, 6 Grandchildren, Sister Barbara (Paul) Tomicek of New Mexico, Sister-in-law Faye Jackson, nieces and nephews: Edwin (Sandy) Jackson, Paul (Kattie) Tomicek, and Karen Tomicek, several Great-nieces and nephews.

Also preceded in death by her step-father: James Hogg, son Louis Paul Fontana, brother Donald Jackson and an infant sister.

Friends may call Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 75 W. William St. (SR 36), Delaware, where services will follow Thursday 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Sharon Beattie officiating.

Inurnment will be held Saturday in the Greenwood Memorial Park in Lower Burrell, Pennsylvania.
