Marjorie Brown, 89, of Mount Gilead died late Wednesday evening, November 7, 2007.

She was born on November 18, 1917 in Chesterville at the family home the daughter of Walter and Elva (Ossing) Alspach.

Marjorie was a lifelong resident of Morrow County and was a graduate of Chesterville High School in the class of 1935.

On May 11, 1941 Marjorie married her loving husband Richard “Dick” Brown who died in 1994.

Marjorie played an active role in the community, working for the Mount Gilead Schools and the Morrow County Health Department.

Marjorie was a devoted member of the Mount Gilead First Presbyterian Church where she held numerous positions throughout her tenure. Marjorie carried her Christian attitude throughout her life, volunteering at the Morrow County Hospital as a “Blue Twig”.

Marjorie is survived by her sons Dr. Charles A. (Ruth) Brown of Wooster and Richard Brown of Houston, Texas; her daughter Mary Anne Ivy of Stow; 6 grandchildren Theresa (Kevin) Tanner, Todd (Amy) Ivy, Nicholas (Erin) Brown, Douglas Brown, Regina (Mike) Perry, and Andrew Brown; 10 great grandchildren Noah, Tyler, and Sarah Tanner, Jax Baker and Austin Ivy, Owen and Lauren Brown, and Brendan, Ashlyn, and Brooke Perry.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her brothers Earl and Charles Alspach and her sisters Lucina Bollorer and Ruth Tobin.

Her family will greet friends from 10:30 a.m. until noon on Monday November 12, 2007 at the Snyder Funeral Homes, Craven Chapel, 67 North Main Street, Mount Gilead. Pastor Dennis Braun will conduct funeral services there at noon. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery.

Following the committal service the family invites everyone to the First Presbyterian Church for a time of food and fellowship.
