Marion C. Darling

Marion C. Darling, age 71, of Fredericktown, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 9, 2019. He was born on June 23, 1947 in Mount Vernon, Ohio the son of Harold Leroy and Ruth (Wright) Darling.  Marion proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1966 to 1969 and the reserves from 1970 to 1972.  Following his discharge Marion married the love of his life Barbara (Anderson) Darling on July 16, 1971.

Marion retired as a foreman with Rolls Royce in Mount Vernon and attended the Fredericktown United Methodist Church.  Marion loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, working in his flower and vegetable garden and woodworking.  He was an avid fan of NASCAR and was a former 4-H Advisor.

Marion and his wife enjoyed participating in craft shows during their retirement but most important was spending time hosting family and friends and attending his grandson’s sporting events and granddaughter’s dance recitals.

He is survived by his children; Melissa (Ryan) Wolfe of North Canton, Ohio and Mary (Aaron) Darling-Gilson of Westerville, Ohio; two grandchildren, Rocco Wolfe, Zoe Wolfe and a sister, Lynette (Michael) Schwartz of Bladensburg.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Carolyn Kinney.

The family will observe private services at a later date.  The Snyder Funeral Home of Fredericktown is honored to serve the family of Marion C. Darling.

Memorial contributions in Marion’s name may be made to the Knox County 4-H Activity Center Fund, c/o Community Foundation of Mount Vernon and Knox County, 1 S. Main Street, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050.

  • I am so sorry for the loss of part of our family. We had many Darling Reunions over the years. Barb and Marion were always loving and a fun part of the Darling family and will always be remembered in a special way. May God Comfort their family. Keeping all in our thoughts and prayers.

We will never forget your parents invitation for dinner at your lovely home and meeting you two beautiful girls. Their kindness has touched so many both near and far !!
