Marilyn “Sue” Deel

Marilyn “Sue” Deel, age 74, of Marengo, passed away Tuesday evening, July 18, 2017, at Bennington Glen Nursing and Rehab Center.
On January 20, 1943, Sue was born in Bee, VA, a daughter of the late Kellis A. and Cornie (Edwards) Sutherland. She graduated from Marengo High School in the Class of 1961.
Following a few months of dating, Sue married Ted J. Deel on October 19, 1963, at the Owl Creek Primitive Baptist Church. They shared over 53 years together as husband and wife.
Sue was a homemaker who truly enjoyed raising her children and taking care of her family. She also liked to crochet and play bingo. She loved parties, especially when they were in her honor. She was the life of the party everywhere she went and always seemed to know everyone.
She will always be remembered as the perfect wife, mom, and grandma who gave huge bear hugs and tons of kisses.
Sue will be dearly missed by her husband, Ted, of Marengo; three children: Gregory Deel of Marengo, Tammy (Larry) Kanagy of Columbia City, IN, Patrick Deel of Marengo; four grandchildren: Janessa, Amelia, Jaden and Toby; a sister, Jane (Joe) Green of Fort Smith, AR, a brother, Ken (Elaine) Sutherland of Marion; a sister-in-law, Donna Sutherland of Lancaster, SC; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Jeff and Don Sutherland; and a sister, Teresa Sutherland.
Sue’s family will greet friends from 5 – 7 p.m. on Friday, July 21, 2017, at the Snyder Funeral Home, Craven Chapel, 67 N. Main St., Mt. Gilead. Services to honor and celebrate her life will be held there at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 22, 2017, with Pastor Jeff Deel officiating. The family will greet friends an hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in North Fork Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in Sue’s name may be made to a charity or organization of the donor’s choice.
