Marilyn J. Gardner, 69, of 3328 Mansfield Lane, Snellville, Ga., died Monday, Oct. 5, 2009, after a short illness, at her daughters residence, Tim and Leanne Tackett, with whom she made her home.
Born in Wyandot County on July 1, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Elbert and Marie Smith Tewell. She married Richard B. Gardner on Aug. 20, 1960. He preceded her in death on Sept. 8, 2002.
Mrs. Gardner was a librarian at Iberia Elementary school for 26 years, retiring in 2002. She was a life member of Polk Township AMVETS Post 1979, Galion.
Survivors include four daughters and three sons-in-law, Kathy and Matt Etzinger of Galion, Nancy and Craig Rinehart of Broken Arrow, Okla., Karen Mullins of Tuscaloosa, Ala., and Leanne and Tim Tackett of Snellville, Ga.; two sons, Douglas and Eric S. Gardner, both of Galion; eight grandchildren, Paula Noel, Cindy and Craig Sammetinger, Jennifer Hendrick, Curtis Rinehart, Bruce Mullins, Rebecca Tackett, Amanda Tackett and Kyle Gardner; seven great-grandchildren, Wyatt Esno, Jocelyn Herndon, Kenny Herndon, Jamie Herndon, William Rinehart, Kaelyn Tackett and Trevin Gardner; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Phyllis and Richard Otto of Columbus Grove and Alice Capple of Montpelier and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by one grandson and one great-grandson.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Matt Etzinger, 1342 St. Rt. 61, Galion, Ohio, between Galion and Crestline. Burial will be at a later date.
