Marie Johnson, age 84 of Utica formerly of Centerburg died Wednesday morning, December 12, 2007 at Knox Community Hospital in Mt. Vernon.
She was born on May 13, 1923 in Kentucky to the late James A. Garfield and Susie Whitt. The homemaker had been a resident of Utica since 1973, residing in the Centerburg area for the past 60 years.
Preceded in death by her husband of 39 years Floyd Johnson in 1989.
Always energetic, she was fun loving and even cantankerous at times. Selfless, she constantly put the needs of her family before her own as they were her first priority. She was a wonderful loving mother.
Survived by sons: Jerry Johnson (Tina M. Taylor) of Orient, Jim Johnson of Centerburg, Bob (Mary Jane) Rowley of Morehead, KY, daughters: Anita (Dale) Vanderpool of Harrisburg, Sandy (Ron) Miller of Centerburg, 15 Grandchildren, 21 Great-grandchildren, brothers Stanley (Ina) Whitt and Beecher (Maude) Whitt of Wrigley, KY, and sister Opal Adkins of Morehead, KY.
Friends may call Friday 2-4 and 6-8:00 p.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, SR’s 3 at 61, Sunbury, where services will be Saturday 10:00 a.m., interment Eastview Cemetery in Centerburg.
