Marie (Jewell) Proffit

Marie (Jewell) Proffit, age 80 of Frazeysburg died Sunday morning, April 15, 2018 at Licking Memorial Hospital in Newark.

She was born on February 14, 1938 in Bradshaw, West Virginia the daughter of the late Dewey and Celia (Hagerman) Jewell.

Marie worked for several years at DK Manufacturing in Frazeysburg.

She was a loving wife, mother, and grandparent who loved to knit, crochet, and play cards.

You’d never see her without a cup of coffee, a cigarette, and a scratch-off lottery ticket.

She will be missed by her sons and their wives, Wetzel and Phyllis, Russell and Cheryl, Chester and Brenda, and Rodney and Paula; her sister and brother-in-law Othel and Phillip Griffith; 15 grandchildren; 46 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Arthur on July 16, 2015 and her brothers Albert, Edward, and William.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at 4PM at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 637 North State Route 61, Sunbury, Ohio 43074. Friends may call on the family from 2 PM until the time of the service.  Burial will take place on the family farm at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
