Marian I. Bennett Schamper

Marian I. Earlywine Bennett Schamper, age 94 of Marengo died peacefully at home, early Wednesday morning, November 2, 2005.
She was born on September 1, 1911 in Mt. Vernon and attended the Mt. Vernon City Schools, Gambier High School Class, and Ohio University. Marian worked on the Bennett family farm during World War II and with several Marengo area businesses, including the Fuller Ford Dealership and with her husband “Bill” Bennett in the family fuel business of Bennett Distributing.
A longtime member of the Marengo United Methodist Church, over the years she participated in many organizations, including the Canaan Township Farm Bureau Council, Pythian Sisters, Senior’s on Center, and numerous other organizations.
Preceded in death by her parents: Walter and Cordia (Wolfe) Earlywine, Husbands: William D. “Bill” Bennett, Walter Schamper, Sister: Ethel VanVoorhis, and nephew Robert VanVoorhis.
Survived by Son: Earl Warren Bennett of Marengo, Nephews: John and Shelby VanVoorhis, Step-sons: Daniel (Nancy) and Thomas (Patricia) Schamper.
Friends may call one hour prior to the funeral services, which will be held Saturday 11:00 a.m. at the Marengo United Methodist Church, with Rev. Beverly Hall officiating, burial will follow in Bloomfield Cemetery near Sparta. Arrangements entrusted to DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home in Marengo.
