Maria B. Fike, 92, formerly of 110 Fortney Avenue, Galion, died Wednesday, June 30, 2004 at Galion Community Hospital.

Born June 19, 1912 in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Henry Clifton Liggett and Burnadette Nelson Liggett. She was preceded in death on March 4, 1998 by her husband, William F. “Fritz” Fike whom she married on June 20, 1938.

She was a graduate of Galion High School in 1931 and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Galion.

She worked at the former F. W. Woolworth Co. where she worked for several years when she was just out of high school. She returned to work there in the 1960’s.

Surviving is a son and daughter-in-law, Steven K. and Diana Fike, of Mansfield; two grandsons, Derek Fike and Jody Dewey, of Galion, Timothy Giesige and fiancĂ©’ Kari Kitchen, of Mansfield; a granddaughter and spouse, Christina and Aaron Fry, of Lexington; four great-grandchildren, Kelsie Fike, Lindsey Newlon, Andrew and Jacob Myers and a sister and brother-in-law, Rita and Hi Brooks, of Fayetteville, Ark.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Ann Monett.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 6, 2004 at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 7, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Galion with Rev. Frederick Schill officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Vigil services will be held at 7:30 p.m. during calling hours with Deacon Kevin D. Wintersteller officiating.
