Margaret “Marci” Marcella Walker

Margaret “Marci” Marcella Walker unexpectedly passed away at Grady Memorial Hospital following a brief illness on April 20, 2015.

She was born in Columbus, Ohio on June 8, 1931, the daughter of the late Gladys Kirkendall Shepherd Neff and Matt Shepherd.  Marci was raised in Logan, Ohio by her mother and step father Harold Neff.  She married Alton Merle Walker on November 24, 1948.

She is survived by son Robert E. (Sue) Walker of Delaware, and daughter Donna J. Walker of Ashley; family friend Diane Sargent of Ashley; grandson Robert E. Walker, Jr. of Delaware; granddaughters Laurie (Junior) Yates of Delaware, and Alyssia (Craig) Newton currently residing in Darwin, Australia; great grandchildren Ian Walker of Virginia, Rachel and Lauren Yates of Delaware; brothers Edwin Neff of Logan, Richard (Rosemary) Neff of Kansas, Kenny Neff of Oregon; sisters Georgia Miller of Logan, Janice Neff (Kerrill Davis) of Logan, and Marian Bigham of Logan; sisters-in-law Dorothy “Dot” Neff, and Charity Walker; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Marci is preceded in death by her husband Alton M. Walker; her son, John A. Walker; brothers Orrion Neff, Paul Neff, Lawrence Neff, Lewis Neff, and Larry D. Neff; brothers-in-law, Aubrey Miller, Merl McCune, Joe Bigham; and sisters-in-law Pearl Ann Neff, and Bonnie Neff.

Marci enjoyed 61 years of marriage with her husband, and was proud of their three children.  She was a dedicated mother, and was both a den mother and Girl Scout leader.  She worked for the Delaware City School system for a number of years, lastly as a teacher’s aide.  Her happiest times were working with children both at the school and doing child care in her home.

Marci was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Delaware, Ohio.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 24, 2015 at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, 1510 W William St at Valleyside Dr, Delaware, OH from 1:00 – 3:00 pm, with a Celebration of Life service to follow at 3:00 pm with Pastor Dan Lemke officiating. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
