November 27, 1927 ‒ May 09, 2011
MANSFIELD: No one made a meatloaf quite like Margaret Au. With only simple ingredients, combined with a lot of love, she consistently prepared a delicious entrée. Her mouth-watering yams and creamed corn became family favorites.
A woman blessed with a spirit of hospitality, Margaret passed away Monday afternoon May 9, 2011 in Mansfield Memorial Homes. She was 83.
Born November 27, 1927, in Bellville to Jacob and Letha (Walters) Wilt, she remained a lifelong area resident.
Margaret worked as a housekeeper with the former Park Place and Ambassador hotels. With her strong work ethic, she could clean 25 rooms a day – in addition to many common areas.
She loved to play Bingo and enjoyed entertaining company.
Margaret is survived by her daughter Linda Hedrick, her grandson Tim Hedrick both of Mansfield; brothers Richard (Ruth) Wilt of Ashland and Ralph Wilt of Johnsville; a sister Kathryn; and nieces and nephews.
Her husband Russell Au preceded her in death in 2009. Also deceased are her brothers Marvin and Marlin Wilt, and a sister Mary Dotterman.
Her family has selected compassionate cremation services with the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home. Private condolences to her family may be made online at: www.snyderfuneralhomes.com
