She was born August 18, 1925 in Mason City, West Virginia, to Jesse and Elizabeth (Bass) Hargraves, and moved to Mansfield in the 1940’s.
In September of 1943, she married Richard L. Volz, who preceded her in death in 1959. Independent, yet meek, Mamie raised her two daughters alone, save for the Lord’s help.

She was a member of the Middle-Bellville Road congregation Apostolic Christian Church, a church family she dearly loved, and with whom she so enjoyed attending worship services.
Mamie enjoyed gardening, and had a keen eye for antiques, but her true delight were her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to her kind heart, she will be remembered for her dedication to the Lord, His Word, and her family.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law Elizabeth and Glen McLaughlin and Chris and Terry Freund all of Mansfield; four grandchildren and their spouses Eric Lee and Lacey McLaughlin of Waukesha, Wisconsin, Andrew and Pam McLaughlin of Fairfield, Amy and Robert Skropits and Melanie Freund all of Mansfield; eight great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter Jessie Bridget Volz, her brothers Hensley Hargraves and Forest Hargraves, and her sisters Marie Hoffman and Betty Vaughn.
The family will receive friends Friday, February 17, 2006 from 4-7 pm in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Saturday at 10:30 am in Apostolic Christian Church, 1332 Middle-Bellville Road. Burial will follow in Shauck Cemetery.
