Malcolm Vern Baker, Jr., 58, of Lakeville, Minnesota passed away suddenly Monday, April 14. He was born October 1, 1955 in Mt. Gilead, Ohio to Malcolm Vern Baker Sr. and Elizabeth (nee McGraw) Baker. Malcolm is survived by his Forever Love, Heather Furtney, sons John and Malcolm III, daughter Madelyn, sisters Brenda and Maryanne, brother Mark, parents-in-law David and Donna, brother-in-law Christopher, nieces, nephews, and numerous dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Malcolm was raised in Warren, Ohio and grew into an outstanding athlete. He was known as Mac “The Hitman” Baker and was a standout on the 1972 Warren Western Reserve State Championship football team. In 2012 Malcolm was inducted into the Ohio High School Football, Football Hall Of Fame. Malcolm loved sports and turned that competitive passion into a fantastic career in sales winning numerous awards and holding many great leadership positions in the industry.
Malcolm was a tough leader and demanded success from his co-workers and employees. They along with his friends will remember him as a charming, witty and a sarcastic individual that showed he cared by busting their chops. In the end he will be remembered as a father who gave every ounce of his life to his family and worked tirelessly to support them. He lived life to the fullest and the memory of “Mac Daddy” will be treasured by more than he could of imagined and he will be sincerely missed.
The Baker family will greet friends from 1 to 3 PM on Saturday, April 26, 2014, at the Snyder Funeral Home, Craven Chapel, 67 North Main St., Mount Gilead. Services celebrating his life will follow at 3 PM with Celebrant Don Lockwood officiating. A graveside committal service will follow in Rivercliff Cemetery.
