LEXINGTON: Majora May Kisling Casteel, 90, of Sherrills Ford, North Carolina, formerly of State Route 97 East, Lexington, died Easter Sunday afternoon in Genesis Health Care, Mooresville, North Carolina.
She was born December 24, 1914 to Samuel and Ruth Walker Kisling in Richland County and until 1993 was a lifelong area resident. She was graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1933 and had been employed in housekeeping at Mansfield General Hospital. She committed herself in marriage to Alonzo Casteel on June 17, 1961. Alonzo preceded her in death on June 27, 1993.
Majora was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and was long associated with the South Congregation of Mansfield.
She is survived by her brother Dale Kisling of Mohall, North Dakota; sisters Vivian Van Cura of Mansfield and Nancy Smith of Bellville; sister-in-law Marian Kisling of Lexington; special friend and care giver Barbara Mitchell of Sherrills Ford; Barbara’s daughter, Rebecca Euton, whom Majora loved and cared for as her own; and Barbara’s remaining sons and daughters, all of whom Majora considered her adoptive family.
In addition to her parents and husband of 32 years, Majora was preceded in death by her brother S. Richard Kisling and twin sister Audra Miller.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2005 at 1 pm in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home. Friends may call the hour prior to the service. Speaker Eugene Fry of Mansfield South Congregation Jehovah’s Witnesses will officiate. Burial will follow in Lexington Cemetery.
