MANSFIELD: Mabel Ilene Baker, 86, of Mansfield passed away Sunday evening July 11, 2010.

Mabel was born May 3, 1924 in Chesterville to Howard and Ella Gay (Wilson) Gleason.

On July 13, 1941 she married Wayne Baker.

Mabel worked at General Industries as Welding Machine Operator retiring after 20 years.

An excellent baker, her home was the family gathering place on Sunday afternoons, where her family loved her fried chicken and homemade ice cream.

Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law James and Bonnie Baker of Mansfield; grandchildren Christina Mattoni of Toledo and Katherine and Gregory King of Lucas; great grandchildren Zachary Cahill, Alexander Mattoni, Molly Mattoni, and Emily King; sister Jean Heilman of Mansfield, and nieces, nephews and extended family.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Wayne Baker in 1982; brother David “Bill” Gleason and sister Betty Sears Schaffer.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 from 5-8pm in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11:30am with visitation the hour prior to the funeral. The Rev. Dr. Faith Proietti will officiate. Burial will follow in Bellville Cemetery.

Memorial contributions to MedCentral Hospice or Williamsport United Methodist Church may be made at the funeral home.
