MANSFIELD: M. Maurine Garber, 93, formerly of West Cook Road, Mansfield, died Wednesday morning January 2, 2008 in Riverside Home Reach Hospice, Columbus following a short illness.
She was born April 5, 1914 in Bellville to William C. and Ida M. (Fisher) Walker, and was graduated from Bellville High School.
Mrs. Garber had worked as a line inspector and office clerk with the Westinghouse Company prior to her January 1, 1941 marriage with Dwain W. Garber.
A Mansfield resident most of her life, she focused on homemaking until her children were raised, when she returned to the workforce as a clerk for the former Daughtery’s Sohio Service Station & Store on State Route 13.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Mansfield, where she was active in the Quilting Party and served as Church Door Secretary and greeter.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Linda and Michael Burkey of Upper Arlington; her son and daughter-in-law David and Rhonda Garber of Frazeysburg; grandchildren Michelle Burkey, Monica Garber and Grant Garber.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dwain Garber on August 12, 2001. Also deceased are sisters Lucy Kisling, Josephine Daugherty, Ruth Kisling, Vesta Swank, Opal Stahl and Margaret Walker; and brothers Guy, Russell and Raymond Walker.
The Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home is serving the family with personal services including interment in Bellville Cemetery.
