Lynn Elmer Steele, age 76, of Centerburg passed away Friday, September 13, 2019 at his residence.

A native of Richlands, VA he was born April 13, 1943 the son of the late Elmer and Marie (Starnes) Steele. On March 26, 1984 he married Sandra Jean Heimlich. He was a truck driver where he was recognized for 1 million miles of safe driving and drove over 5 million during his employment, he retired in 2012 from the Carter Distributing Company. He enjoyed fishing, mowing the lawn and completing crossword puzzles. Some of his fondest memories include growing up on the farm and going around the countryside with his brother Glenn and meeting his wife Sandy. He was a member of the Church of God in Centerburg.

Lynn is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Sandra J. (Heimlich) Steele; his sons, Ronald (Jackie) Heimlich of Columbus and Glenn Steele of Clintonville; his daughters, Jo-Lynn (Dave) Wisniewski of Jewett City, CT, Kimberly (Brent) Smith of Clintonville and Barbara Steele of Centerburg; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his brother, Glenn Steele of Centerburg; and his sister, Judy (Robby) McKay of Centerburg.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at the Church of God in Centerburg, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Central Ohio Joint Fire District, 5138 Columbus Rd, Centerburg, OH 43011 in Lynn’s memory.

  • Dear Sandy and family, we are so sorry to hear of Lynns passing. We both worked many years with him at Carters, and enjoyed our fishing stories. He was always fun to be around. Always smiling with a great attitude and personality. And Sandy, I’ll always be grateful to you, for watching my son Ryan. He really enjoyed going to your and Lynns home.
