Luella M. Freund
January 30, 1929 ‒ January 14, 2012
MANSFIELD: Luella M. Freund, 82, passed to the arms of her Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 14, 2012 after a nearly two decade battle with cancer.
Born on January 30, 1929 to the late Charles and Hermine (Wenhardt) Getz in Mansfield, she graduated from Mansfield Senior High School. Early employment was with the Farmers Bank where she was often noticed by another employee of the bank, George J Freund. Marriage to George and the birth and raising of four sons only seemed to increase her Christ generated abilities as a Proverbs 31 woman.
Her life mission was in support of her husband’s spiritual work as an elder of the Apostolic Christian Church, business partner in his real estate efforts and raising her boys. Her home was a constant place of hospitality and entertainment to family, friends and strangers.
Luella enjoyed her summers up at Catawba Island and winters in South Florida with her late husband. China painting was one of her many abilities and provided precious gifts she gave to those she loved. She enjoyed a close circle of lady friends with whom she dined and fellowshipped, both giving and receiving many blessings, especially after the passing of her beloved, George.
Luella is survived by her four sons: G. Randall (Doris) Freund of Mansfield, Bryan (Barbara) Freund of Phoenix, AZ, Scott (Annamarie) Freund of Phoenix, AZ and Thomas (Lois) Freund of Mansfield. She is also survived by four grandsons, Keith, Byron, Max and Jack Freund, six granddaughters, Kimberly Gerhardt, Stephanie Nedeljkovic, Hilary Freund, Megan Freund, Lauren Freund and Rebecca Freund and four great granddaughters. All her siblings survive her and they are brothers Duane (Martha Jean) Getz of Mansfield, David (Sandra) Getz of Jupiter, Fl, Thomas (Diane) Getz of Jupiter, Fl, and sister Mary Lou (John) Zeug of Woodcliff Lake, NJ. She is also survived by her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert (Leona) Freund of Syracuse, NY, numerous nephews, nieces and close friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George J Freund in November 2006.
The Freund family will receive guests in visitation on Thursday, January 19, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Finefrock Chapel of the Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home. Her funeral service will be held Friday, January 20 at 10 a.m. in Apostolic Christian Church, 1332 Middle-Bellville Road, officiated by her nephew Robert Freund, Jr. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery.
Contributions in Luella’s memory to Richland Pregnancy Services, Mansfield Christian School or Apostolic Christian Church may be made at the funeral home.
