Lucy Eileen Follin

Lucy Eileen Follin was a devoted wife, mother, Christian, and a cookie magician in the kitchen.
She died Wednesday morning April 29, 2009 at the Morrow County Hospital Extended Care Facility.
Eileen was born on November 30, 1924 in Chesterville the daughter of the late Berlin and Neva Pearl (Wilson) Dawson.
Eileen graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in the class of 1942 and also attended the Mansfield Business College for a year.
On March 31, 1946 she married Roger C. Follin. They were married for nearly 40 years before his passing on April 15, 1985.
Eileen wore many different hats throughout her work career. Her employment began at Globe Steel in Mansfield and continued at the Chesterville Elementary School where she worked as a secretary and cook. She worked at the Derrick Motel as the administrative assistant and later for Kampmann Costumes in Columbus designing and making costumes. Her last role before retirement was that of salad maker at the Pine Lakes Golf Course.
A devoted Christian woman, Lucy was a long time member of the Harmony Chapel United Methodist Church where she was a member of the United Methodist Women.
Her loving and caring nature led her to volunteer as a Blue Twig at the Morrow County Hospital. She was proud to use her artistic ability, making the tray favors and table decorations that represented the Blue Twig.
Other memberships included the Wayne Grange and Order of the Eastern Star, Rebekkah Lodge in Mansfield.
Lucy’s skill in the kitchen was undeniable, able to make all sorts of cookies, at request. She would make dozens and dozens at a time.
An avid sports fan, Lucy cheered whole heartedly for The Ohio State University boys and girls basketball teams. You could also find her in front of the television watching NASCAR and her favorite driver Dale Earnhardt.
Most importantly though were the loves of her life; her cats Suzie and Tom Tom.
She will be remembered as a loving and caring woman who showed great concern for her family, friends, and those in need.
She is survived by a son Mike (Marcia) Follin of Chesterville; a daughter Linda (James) Potts of Mount Gilead; two grandchildren Vincent (Sonia) Brown of Mount Gilead and Angela (Todd) Ellerbrock of Delaware; two step-grandchildren Brent (Christy) Potts of Washington, D.C. and Mitchell (Melissa) Potts of Fisher, Indiana; five great grandchildren; six step-great grandchildren; two step-great, great grandchildren; two brothers Howard Dawson of Mansfield and Jim (Lucille) Dawson of Mount Gilead; a sister Margaret Perkins of Chesterville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by sister-in-law Ruth Dawson and brother-in-law Martin Perkins.
Friends may call on the family on Friday May 1, 2009 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home, 76 South Main Street, Mount Gilead. A Celebration of Eileen’s Life will take place there on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. with Pastors Jan Yandell, Roger Grace, and Mary Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery.
