Lucille M. Ortmann, age 97 of Delaware died Sunday afternoon, June 27, 2004 at the Sarah Moore Home.

She was born on September 5, 1906 in Atwood, Tennessee to the late Reuel and Ollie (Kearney) Walker. She moved from Mentor, Ohio to Bradenton, Florida, where she resided for 25 years before moving to Delaware in 1988. Lucille had worked for the A & P Tea Company in East Cleveland, operated the former Ortmann Green House in Mentor, and baked rolls and desserts for the Sugg Middle School in Bradenton, Florida, retiring at the age of 80.

She attended William Street United Methodist Church, known as a hard worker and for her ability to grow beautiful flowers. For years she crocheted caps for infants at Mott Children’s Hospital in Michigan. She enjoyed all types of crafts especially quilting and needle work.

Survived by Daughters: Nancy (Ralph) Young of Delaware, Evelyn (Don) Dennerll of Grasslake, Michigan, 8 Grandchildren: Michael (Jennifer) Long, Kathryn (Pat) Blair, Ralph (Patty) Young, Russell (Liz) Young, David (Lisa) Dennerll, Chris Dennerll, Kathleen (Joe) Thorrez, Tim (Jean) Dennerll, 11 Great-grandchildren: Ryan, Ethan, Raegan, Marc, Samantha, Angelina, Bobby, Genevieve, Isabelle, Diane, Ray. Brother: James L. (Lura) Walker, Raymond L. (Jody) Walker, Sister: Lila (Claude) Payne. She was called “Sis” by her younger siblings because she helped raise them while their mother worked the family farm.

Preceded in death by her husband of almost 60 years: Henry Ortmann who died in 1992, Brothers: Lawrence, Reuel Walker, Sisters: Linnie Springer and Lola Artman.

Friends may call Thursday from 10 – 11:00 a. m. at William Street United Methodist Church, 28 W. William St., Delaware, Ohio, where services will follow Thursday 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Sharon Beattie officiating. Interment will be held in Pisgah Cemetery, Atwood, Tennessee. Arrangements have been entrusted to DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Delaware.
