Lucille Daniels, age 81, of Mount Vernon passed away Monday, August 08, 2005 at the Ohio Eastern Star Home in Mount Vernon. Lucille was born January 9, 1924 in Andover, Ohio to Forest D. and Marie Josephine (Thayer) Maloney, was a graduate o Andover High School in Ashtabula County, and moved to the Mount Vernon area in 1943 from Illinois. She had been employed as a secretary at the Mount Vernon City Schools for 24 years.
Lucille was a member of the Owl Creek Baptist Church but had attended the First Presbyterian Church in Mount Vernon where she was active with the church choir. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Sorosis Club in Mount Vernon, Knox Chapter #236 Order of Eastern Star and was a volunteer at Interchurch Social Services. Lucille lived an active lifestyle, participating in several card clubs and enjoyed golfing.
Surviving are her daughter Dianne M. Daniels of Cary, North Carolina; her four sons Richard K. “Dan” Daniels of Utica, John E. (Jane) Daniels of Charleston, South Carolina, Thomas W. (Debbie) Daniels of Winter Garden, Florida and Joel (Sally) Daniels II of Mount Vernon; 13 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 2 step great grandchildren and her three sisters Esther Sager of Orlando, Florida, Marigold Hartman of Jefferson, Ohio and Ruth Elmore of South Daytona, Florida. Besides her parents, her husband Edwin R. Daniels preceded her in death in 1994.
Friends may call Wednesday, August 10, from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 PM at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon where Knox Chapter #236 Order of Eastern Star will conduct memorial services at 8 PM. A funeral service will be Thursday at 11 AM with Rev. Dr. David A. Baker officiating. Interment will follow at Owl Creek Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Owl Creek Baptist Church or to Interchurch Social Services.
