PERRYSVILLE: “I’m nearly 81 years old and I’ve lived a sweet life”

Lowell G. Algire’s sweet life came to a close, November 29, 2018 in Colonial Manor Health Care Center Loudonville. He was 80.

He was born December 3, 1937 in Mt. Vernon to parents Clare & Leola M. (Coe) Algire. He graduated from Butler High School with the class of 1956.

Lowell worked at Mansfield Plumbing Products in Perrysville, where he worked many jobs including bowl line and tank line. But most of his time, 20 years of his work life was spent truck driving. After 45 years of work he retired.

Past president of the Perrysville Lion’s Club, Lowell enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and taking trips, especially trips on his Harley. He was a walking road map and he knew where all the best places to eat were.

All of his family are Loudonville Redbirds but he was a Butler Bulldog. After the schools merged in the 1960s, he was a Clear Fork Colt through and through. His family even remember him at the old Loudonville Clear Fork rivalry game, sitting among all the Loudonville red he would be found in his Clear Fork green.

He is survived by his life partner of 60 years Mary Ellen Algire of Perrysville; children Stephanie (Jeff) Shearer, Sherri (James) Sprang, Steve Algire and Scott (Darla) Algire all of Loudonville; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren with number 13 due in February; and numerous close friends.

In addition to his parents, Lowell was preceded in death by step-mother Cleo Frank Lozier Algire; brothers Dale Algire, Dean Algire and Donald Algire.

At Lowell’s request there will be no public services. The family will be holding a private family graveside service at a later date and the family hopes that you will hold him in your heart as you remember him in your own special way.

Contributions in Lowell’s memory may be made to Perrysville Green Fire Department (Please mail checks to them at 181 East 3rd Street, Perrysville, Ohio 44864) or Pathways Hospice (click link to give) or to a charity of your choice.
