Louise E. Lowe
December 13, 1925 ‒ May 24, 2013
Louise E. Lowe, formerly of Edison, went to be with the Lord, Friday morning, May 24, 2013, at the Country View Care Center following a twelve year battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was 87 years old.
On December 13, 1925, Louise was born in Knox County, Kentucky, the 3rd of twelve children of the late James Madison and Mary Elizabeth (Hornsby) Osborn, with the given name of Lucy Emery Osborn.
In the late 1970’s, Louise married Thurman “Gene” Lowe, and they moved to Morrow County, where they lived in Cardington and Edison. A loving homemaker, Louise made sure Gene was always well taken care of. For years, they enjoyed being a part of the Morrow County React Club, which was a group of local citizens who worked with the police to inform them of emergencies using their CB radios. They also enjoyed going to church together at the Community House of Prayer, where she loved brother Okie’s and their church family. She was the cook of the church, always making the meals for their weekend rallies. They also were members of the Eagles Club in Cardington. Gene preceded her in death on December 25, 2010.
With a love for the thrill of games of chance, Louise was a bit of a “gamber”, enjoying Bingo any where she could find a game being played. She also loved playing cards, with poker being her game of choice.
A heart of gold, Louise was a sweet lady who would do anything for anyone.
She will be missed by her five children: Larry Mattix of Tennessee, Ronnie (Melanie) Mattix of Delaware, Barbara (Tom) Stevens of Marengo, James “Frank” Bellow of Marengo, and Jeff (Marla Greenawalt) Jordan of Cardington; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; five siblings: Fred (Doris) Osborn of Cardington, Paul (Brenda) Osborn of Mississippi, Nola Clinger of Mount Vernon, Helen (Jim) Gibson of Florida, and Fred Barnes of Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Including her parents and husband, Louise was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth (Janine) Mattix; three grandsons: Michael, Ryan and Allen Mattix; five siblings: Zella Gilbert, Maudie Josey, Reed Osborn, Nellie Bunting, and Margaret Clinger; and her husband, Tom Jordan.
Her family will greet friends from Noon to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28th, at the Snyder Funeral Home, Craven Chapel, 67 N. Main St., Mount Gilead. Services honoring her life will follow there at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Okie Evans officiating. Burial will follow in Glendale Cemetery in Cardington.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, and they may be sent to the care of the funeral home.
