Louis Felix Fantin, 69, of Galion, died Monday, Apr. 30, 2012 at Olentangy Woods Nursing Center in Galion after battling cancer for many years.

Born Feb. 14, 1943 in Uhrichsville, he was the son of the late Fidelmo and Anna Heliski Fantin.

Louis graduated from Scio, Ohio High School in 1961 and then joined the United States Navy. He was a member of the Eagles Club in Dennison and the Moose Lodge in Uhrichsville. He was also a member of the Sons of the American Legion Scarbrough Post 243 and a lifetime member of Polk Township AMVETS Post 1979, both in Galion.

He was an independent truck driver for Over the Road, Deerman, Beacon and Lester Coughlin for 35 years.

Surviving are his two daughters and sons-in-law, Treasia and Charles Gordon, Jr. of Galion and Terina and Mike Wagoner of Galion; four grandchildren; Corey VanBuren, Christian Gordon, Kirsten Wagoner and Dalton Wagoner; two brothers, Tom Fantin of Uhrichsville and Andy Fantin of Newcomerstown; his long-time companion, Judy Compton, with whom he made his home and Judy’s children, whom he considered his family, Jason Jen Compton of Galion, Chris Brandon Lawhun of Bucyrus and Heather Compton of Marion and Judy’s grandchildren, Portia, Tyler, Sebastion, Peyton, Kaylee and Leah.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Fidelmo and Bill and one sister, Kay.

At Louis’ request there will be no visitation or funeral services.

Arrangements are in the care of Richardson-Davis Funeral Home in Galion.
