MANSFIELD:  Lorraine B. Welte, age 88, of Mansfield passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2017 in her home following a short illness.

She was born September 14, 1928 in Hamilton, Ohio the daughter of Luther and Etta (Brown) Brunner and graduated from Morgan Township High School in 1946.  Lorraine also attended Butler County Business College.

On October 20, 1951 she married Raymond L. Welte who preceded her in death in 2005.

The epitome of lady, Lorraine prided herself in caring for her husband and keeping a tidy home.  She also enjoyed bowling and was active in her condominium community.

Strong in her faith, Lorraine was a member of Central United Methodist Church.

Described as caring and kind, Lorraine loved to help others.  An avid reader, she was also a gifted story-teller, explaining the story line as if she had written it herself.

She is survived by a sister-in-law Elva Brunner of Cincinnati, nieces and nephews Jo Marie and Joseph Murphy of Cincinnati, OH; Randy and Kim Brunner of Macon, GA; Jill and Jim Cappa of Cincinnati, OH; her caregiver and friend Julie and William Gibson of Mansfield, along with several great nieces and great nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Lorraine was preceded in death by two brothers Allen L. Brunner and Roland J. Brunner.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at 1 pm in Millville Cemetery in Hamilton.  Julie Gibson will speak.

  • I only knew Lorraine a short time, but grew to love her for her strength, her stories, her love of family and her beautiful smile..she was one of a kind and my life is better for having her in it. I will miss her.
