Lorna June James, 79, of Galion, died Friday morning, July 23, 2010 at home. She had been in failing health.
Born Oct. 17, 1930 in Marion, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Clarice Collins Townsend. She was preceded in death on Feb. 13, 1997 by her husband, Everett H. James, Jr., whom she married on July 19, 1949.
June was a graduate of Doylestown High School and retired from the former North Electric Co. in Galion where she was a coil winder.
Surviving are one daughter, Diana K, McIe of Galion; one son and daughter-in-law, Everett “Al” and Cathy James of Galion; six grandchildren, Freida Sam White, Kimberly McIe, Darrell McIe, Jr., Stephanie McIe, Malinda McIe and Chris James; 17 great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Dick and Ara Townsend of Marion; one sister, Carol Casteel of Cleveland; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Richard and Pat James of Noonan, Ga., William and Betty James of Noonan, Ga., Donald and Betty James of Marion, Robert and Trish James of Gibsonton, Fla., Kenneth and Debbie James of Columbus, Sue James of Marion, Nancy James of Marion, Elvie James of Galion, Russell Smith of Marion, Linda Townsend of Castalia, Shirley Townsend of Akron, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter and Miles Townsend; one sister, Mary Smith; five brothers-in-law, Harley, Charles, Jimmie, Jesse and Franklin James and one sister-in-law, Mary Ann Engell.
Friends may call from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Monday, July 26, 2010 at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home where services will follow at 1:30 p.m. Monday, July 26, with Hospice Chaplain Jed Brake officiating. Burial will be in Crawford County Memory Gardens.
