Lorisa Renee Gardner, age 46, of Beech Street, Mount Vernon, grabbed the hand of Jesus and entered his Kingdom on Tuesday, January 27, 2015. She was born on May 9, 1968 in Mount Gilead, Ohio the daughter of Robert Walpole and Patricia (Foster) Walpole Saltzman. Lorisa enjoyed spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by five daughters, Shawnda (Charles Houston) Walpole of Marion, Lindsay (Nathan) McKean of Centerburg, Becky (Jerry) Jackson of Bladensburg, Jeni (Scotty) Snider of Lancaster and Heather (Joe) Carter of Cridersville, two sisters, Debi (Ted) VanHouten of Mount Vernon, Pam (Eric) Vanderpool of Fredericktown, nieces and nephews, Natalee and Jerry Compton, Heather Posey and Ty Tschantz, Sam and Kealani Vanderpool, Ashley Houston, Jessica VanHouten, Tracy Clemons, Bradly VanHouten, many great nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles including Gary Foster and Barb Blubaugh.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Gardner.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2015 beginning at 2 p.m. at New Life Nazarene Church, 665 Harcourt Road, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050 where friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of service. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Lorisa Renee Gardner.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to help with expenses.

    We were so saddened to hear of Lori’s passing. Our hearts, along with yours, are so heavy.

    I was so lucky to have spent time with Lori, especially when she was a young girl.
    I will always cherish those memories.

    Although we have moved out of state and cannot be there physically, please know that we are praying for Lori’s family and wishing for strength and peace.
