Loretta Gay Lemke

December 08, 1950 ‒ April 18, 2009

Ashley, Ohio

Loretta G. Lemke, 58, of Ashley, slipped unexpectedly but peacefully into the presence of God early Saturday morning, April 18th, 2009, while at home recovering from recent surgery. Loretta was born in Wilson Borough, Pennsylvania, on December 8, 1950. She and her brother Walter were adopted by Rev. A.T. and Rev. Agatha Adams; all three preceded her in death. Loretta graduated from high school in Maryland in 1968, and attended Eastern Pilgrim (later United Wesleyan) College and Owosso College. Gifted by God, Loretta majored in music, and toured the country as part of the EPC choir in her freshman year, performing at the National Cathedral in Washington D.C., among many other places. She was a member of The Wesleyan Church since its formation, and attended the merging conference at which that formation occurred. Loretta is survived by her husband of over 26 years, Rev. Daniel Lemke of Ashley. Also surviving are a stepdaughter Angelica, sisters- and brothers-in-law Barb and Jeff Neuburger of Saginaw, Michigan, Warren Lemke of Champaign, Illinois, Karen and Pat Casparro of Washington C.H., Nancy Lemke of Columbus, Paul and Tami Lemke of Westerville, two nieces and five nephews. Loretta is also survived by friends and loved ones from every stop along her wonderful journey. Few people ever met Loretta who weren’t instantly her friend. Her humor, her good-natured advice, and her appreciation of life made her special, and will be sorely missed. Burial will be private at her request. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 25th, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at Ashley Wesleyan Church, and all who will are urged to attend as we honor the memory of this special soul. Memorial contributions may be made to Ashley Wesleyan Church, P.O. Box 327, Ashley, OH 43003.
