Sunbury, Ohio

Loretta Fern Hart, age 81, died peacefully May 10th, 2017 surrounded by loving family at St. Ann’s Hospital in Westerville, Ohio.

Loretta was born in Mt. Vernon Ohio on October 7th, 1935.  She was raised on a farm in Lock, Ohio, by the late Howard and Otta Hawkins.  She described her years on the farm as the best years of her life.  She graduated from Centerburg High School in 1955.  She participated in numerous activities.  She was chosen by her peers to play in the State 4H band, in high school she was 1st trumpet, she showed ponies at the Croton fair, she also played the piano at the Lock church, as well as countless other activities.

Loretta is with Buster Hart now, her husband and best friend, who preceded her in death on December 17, 1995.  Loretta had a larger than life personality, she loved holidays with family, laughter, cooking for her family, and working in her yard.  She was friendly, outgoing, and was a people person.  She was a giver to all that knew her.  She also enjoyed spending the day with her husband and grandchildren at Swappers Day.  And she looked forward to her daily calls from her little sister, Rosetta.  Loretta and her daughter, Lynette, were as close as a mother and daughter could be. Her spirit is an inspiration to others and will not soon be forgotten.

She will be dearly missed by her family, daughter Sharon (Yoakam) Tantarelli, son-in-law Joe Tantarelli of Cardington, Ohio, son Bill Yoakam of London, TX, and daughter Lynette Hart of Sunbury, Ohio.  Her grandson Billy Tantarelli, his wife Mandy Tantarelli, granddaughter Michelle Goughenour, her husband Kyle Goughenour of Cardington, Ohio, and grandson Jason Yoakam of Clintonville, Ohio.  Great grand-children, Carter Tantarelli, and Lucy Tantarelli of Worthington, Ohio, Myla Goughenour, Jovi Goughenour, and Carson Goughenour of Cardington, Ohio, her younger sister, Rosetta Smith of Newark, Ohio, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; 26 and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. John 11:25-26

At Mrs. Hart’s request, services will not be held.

  • Sharon, Billy and Lynette,
I am so sorry for your lost. Your mom will be missed. We try to see your mom at least once a year. I know Mike will be heart broken when I tell him. He always went and seen her when he came home. Her and Buster are having one heck of a party because it has been a long time.

  • Dear Sharon, Bill, and Lynette,
I am so sorry to hear about your mom. All of you along with Loretta and Buster always treated me as family and welcomed me into your home more times then I could possibly remember. I had made a couple of tries to stop and see your mom over the last year or so but unfortunately I never got to tell her how much she and all of your family has meant to me through the years. I pray that God will grant you along with your families and friends strength and comfort you as you go through this tough time.
