Loren C. Linder, age 86, of Mount Gilead and formerly of Denmark, died on Monday afternoon, December 4, 2006, at the Morrow County Hospital following a brief illness.

He was born in Canaan Township of Morrow County, Ohio, on May 28, 1920, the son of the late LeRoy and Pearl (Rogers) Linder. Loren graduated from Edison High School in the Class of 1938.

On January 27, 1945, Loren enlisted into the U.S. Navy, and served as a seaman in the Pacific Theatre during World War II.

For most of his life, Loren owned and operated the family dairy farm in Denmark, which he purchased from his aunt Stella Gruber. A family oriented man, he dearly loved his grandchildren and was very proud when his son, daughter, son-in-law, and grandson had decided to carry on the family farm.

Loren was a member of the Denmark United Methodist Church, and had attended the First Baptist Church. He also was a member of the Morrow County Farm Bureau and the National Holstein Organization.

He is survived by his wife Evelyn G. (Turner) Linder, whom he married on June 13, 1987; his daughter Joyce (William) Rausch of Denmark; three grandchildren Brian, Lauren, and Jordan Rausch; his brother Calvin Eugene Linder of Marion; two step-sons Larry (Debbie) Levering, and Dennis (Eileen) Levering both of Mount Gilead; two step-daughters Sandra (Roger) Shepard of Alabama, and Connie (John) LeClaire of Willard; 10 step-grandchildren and 11 step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Loren was preceded in death by his first wife of over 35 years, Bertha E. (Ulrey) Linder, who preceded him in death on July 28, 1986; his son Stanley Linder on June 30, 1978; and his sister Hilda Staub.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 1:00 p.m., at the Denmark United Methodist Church, on St. Rt. 95, with Dr. Dennis Schultz officiating. Burial with military honors provided by the V.F.W. Post 8054 and the Am Vets Post 87 will follow at Claridon Cemetery. Calling hours will not be observed.
