Lois Joan Burwell
December 25, 2013 ‒ December 25, 2013
Lois Joan Burwell a devoted wife, mother and grandma.
Heaven gained an angel Sunday evening, December 15, 2013, as Lois Joan Burwell, 83, of Sunbury passed away peacefully in her home.
Born premature, weighing only 2lbs, Joan beat the odds. Her strength, even through her final days, was inspiring. Joan loved her family and was deeply loved in return. With her croqueting hand, she knitted more than just blankets and scrubbies, but also an intricate family tree of incredible people who cherished her more than words can express.
She is survived by her amorous soul mate, Robert “Bob” Burwell. At nearly 62 years of marriage, they were an honest example of true, unconditional love. From line dancing to playing dirty marbles, Bob and Joan were an inseparable and perfect pair.
She also leaves four beautiful daughters, Diane (Steve) Fleak, Sharma (Jerry) Azzi, Pam (Kim) Greenawalt and Bonnie (Randy) Marchio, to whom she instilled love, passion and perseverance. Joan was an amazing role model to 12 grandchildren. She taught them about forgiveness, dignity and respect. Her grandchildren are better individuals today because of the support she gave them and the lessons she shared. Joan is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren whom she adored and who adored her in return, and her jelly beans too!
Joans life story is one to be proud of. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends and they will cherish their memories with her forever. A celebration of Joans life is to be scheduled in the near future.
Arrangements entrusted to the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury. Condolences may be expressed at www.snyderfuneralhomes.com.
