COLUMBIA, TN: Lois C. (Bachelder) Carte, age 66, of Fredericktown passed away Saturday, July 7, 2012 at her son’s home in Columbia, Tennessee following a sudden illness.
She was born September 5, 1945 in Galion to Doyle and Iris (Fry) Bachelder and was graduated from Iberia High School in 1963.
Lois worked several places before finding her niche in the Wal-Mart Family including, Galion Community Hospital as a candy striper, Taylors Dairy Queen, in the office at Peco Manufacturing, and the Freeway Inn. In 1983 she began working for Wal-Mart in Texas. She transferred and worked at the first location in Richland County in Ontario as the domestics department manager. Loyal to the company for 26 years, she also served as a customer service representative and a greeter. She retired in June of 2010.
On November 8, 1963 she married Dennis L. Carte with whom she celebrated 48 years, however with their seven-year courtship, they were dedicated to one another 55 years.
Lois dearly loved flowers and spent hours working in her beds. Each plant was special, upon taking a walk through her garden, Lois could tell you the name of each beloved plant.
Quick with trivia and historical facts, Lois nearly never missed Jeopardy or Wheel of Fortune. She was also a talented bowler.
Most of all Lois loved her family, especially her grandchildren. Spending time with them was what she held most dear to her heart.
Surviving are her husband Dennis Carte of Fredericktown, she is survived by three daughters and two sons Rená Moody of Columbia, Tennessee, Kevin Carte of Fredericktown, Jody Carte of Mt. Gilead, Dewayne Carte, and Shelley Carte-Barnhill both of Columbia, Tennesse; eleven grandkids Alaina, Heather, Lee, Gregory, Danielle, Casey, Chelsea, Chase, Breanna, Mikayla, and Dylon; two step grandsons Austin and Dallas; six great grandchildren Torrie, Alexis, Autumn, Allyson, Breeze, Payson, and a great grandson due to arrive August 12, Gregory Dewayne Carte; two brothers and a sister-in-law Myron Gayle and Lisa Bachelder, and Donald Frederick Bachelder all of Galion.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother Tommy Bachelder.
Friends may call Thursday, July 12, 2012 from 5-7 pm in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where the funeral service will be held Friday at 11am. Pastors Rob Ratcliff and Murray Krabill will officiate and burial will follow in Shauck Cemetery.
