Lloyd R. Ebersole

Lloyd R. Ebersole, age 87, of County Road 180, Fredericktown, died Thursday November 26, 2009 at his residence surrounded by his family. Lloyd was born July 9, 1922 in Fredericktown to Leland and Florence (Robinson) Ebersole, was a 1940 graduate of Fredericktown High School and had spent his lifetime in the Knox and Morrow County areas. Lloyd served with the United States Navy during World War Two on board the submarines USS Barracuda and USS Tirante. He was retired as a meat cutter from the family business Ebersole Meat Processing near Chesterville.
Lloyd was a 40-year member of the Chester Masonic Lodge in Chesterville and was a member of Evelyn Chapter, Order of Eastern Star in Chesterville and the Joe Cocanower Post of American Legion in Fredericktown.
Surviving are his wife Betty (Dodson) Ebersole whom he married December 26, 1946; his son Edward Ebersole of Cardington; 3 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; his brothers Richard (Judy) Ebersole of Fredericktown and Robert (Betty) Ebersole of Cochran, Georgia; his sisters Lillian Lower of Mount Vernon, Aileen Bishop of Fredericktown, Ruth Reeder of Butler and Bonnie Hobson of Ashland; sister-in-law Patricia Ebersole of Chesterville; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents Lloyd was preceded in death by his brothers C. Ernest “Ernie” Ebersole and W. Lewis Ebersole, sister Vivian Morris brothers-in-laws Al Morris, Denzel Lower, Walter Bishop, Herple Reeder and Dale Hobson and sister-in-law Loretta Ebersole.
Friends may call Sunday from 1pm to 3pm at the Snyder Funeral Home in Fredericktown. Graveside funeral services with military honors by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council will be Monday at 1:30 pm at Maple Grove Cemetery in Chesterville.
