MANSFIELD: Lloyd L. Barr, 92, formerly of Sunnyslope Drive, Mansfield, died Monday afternoon September 26, 2005, in Lexington Court Care Center following a long illness.
He was born February 12, 1913 in Bellville to Atwood B. and Flora (Oberlin) Barr and was graduated from Bellville High School in 1931.
Lloyd wore many hats, figuratively and literally. He operated his own farm on State Route 546 south of Lexington for many years, and also served other farmers as a livestock trucker.
From 1967 to 1980 he worked with the Richland County Highway Department as a mechanic. In 1991, he retired from the Highway Department was a security agent.
Lloyd was a social member of Robert L. Castor Post #5101 VFW, Lexington, Irvin Hiskey Post #535 American Legion, and William O. Naylor Post #43 AMVETS, Bellville.
He was a former member of New Life Church of Christ, Bellville.
Blessed with a strong work ethic, Lloyd had the spiritual gift of generosity…as he “never could give enough” to his family and circle of friends.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law Edward and Janice Barr of Mansfield; a daughter and son-in-law Marilyn Jane and Robert Emerson of Waynesboro, Virginia, eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; a sister Georgia Moore of Lexington; and a cherished friend Mildred Beck of Columbus.
