Lloyd E. Rankhorn, age 76, of Mount Gilead, passed away Friday morning, April 6, 2018, at the Morrow County Hospital.

On June 9, 1941, Lloyd was born in Sparta White County, TN, to the late Orvalee and Anna (Prater) Rankhorn. Lloyd graduated from high school in Detroit Western, MI and took Boiler training.

While living in Westland, Lloyd worked for Cadillac/GM. He and his friend Roy did complete body work from fixing or repairing to painting. After resettling in Ohio, Lloyd worked for 27 years as maintenance/engineer for Smith Clinic Hospital.

Finding a second chance at love, Lloyd married Donna K. Mason on July 12, 2003 in Marion, OH.

Lloyd loved being out of the house. He could often be found in his garage working on a car with his favorite being mustangs. Lloyd also loved tending to his pond and all of the wildlife that came with living next to a state park. He often made trips to Tennessee to visit with family and go fishing/boating at the June Jam.  He loved to garden Lloyd liked to drink his coffee by the pot fulls, watch all kinds of sports but he loved his football, and loved his pets dearly.

Lloyd attended the Mount Gilead Church of Christ.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Donna; Children: Rhonda (David) Strickland of Columbus, Jason (Sabrina) Pendergrast of Florida, and Brian (Janet) Pendergrast of North Carolina; Grandchildren: Brian Strickland, Logan Pendergrast, Daniel Pendergrast, and Preston Pendergrast; Brothers: Landus Rankhorn of New Boston, MI and James H. (Mary Ann) Rankhorn of Crossville, TN; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents; son, Brian K. Rankhorn; Grandson: Brian K. Rankhorn II and Granddaughter Tabitha Dawn Rankhorn; Wife Norlaine R Rankhorn and a Brother Grady Prater.

Family will greet friends from 4 to 7 PM, on Friday, April 13, 2018, at the Snyder Funeral Home, Craven Chapel. (67 N. Main St., Mount Gilead, OH 43338) Services celebrating his life will be held there, on Saturday, April 14, 2018, at 11:00 AM with Pastor Doug Bryan officiating. Burial will follow in Rivercliff Cemetery.

    Sorry to hear of the loss of Lloyd. I knew him from working at MedCenter Hospital. Everybody liked him. He was a compassionate man with a keen/sly sense of humor. I have missed him since he retired and I am sure he will be missed by you and the family. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and the family.

  • Sorry to learn of Lloyd’s passing. During my years at Smith Clinic and MedCenter, I always found Lloyd to be friendly, helpful, and easygoing. He’ll be missed by those of us who remember his kindness and gentle manner. My sympathies to all the family
