Lindy René Mullins

June 26, 1981 ‒ December 19, 2009

Delaware and formerly of Mount Gilead, Ohio

Lindy René Mullins, age 28, of Delaware and formerly of Mount Gilead, died unexpectedly on Saturday afternoon, December 19, 2009, at the Riverside Methodist Hospital.

On June 26, 1981, Lindy was born in Marion General Hospital, the daughter of Ellen (Torrey) Wilson of Mount Gilead, and William “Will” Mullins of Morral.

Having been raised in Mount Gilead, Lindy graduated from Mount Gilead High School in the Class of 2000. Following high school, she went through STNA training at Bennington Glen Rehabilitation and Care Center. Using her training, she worked as a nursing assistant with Bennington Glen, Woodside Village, and the Arbors of Delaware where she has provided care for the past four years. A hard worker, she had also worked at different times at the Bowling Alley, Kroger’s and McDonald’s.

A devoted mother, Lindy always put the needs of children before her own. As a family, she and her three children loved to go to the beach in the Delaware State Park. She also shared a close bond with everyone else in her family, and especially her twin sister, Windy.

“A joy to be around,” Lindy “was sweeter than a Hershey Kiss,” as long as you stayed on her good side. She had a fun loving personality and truly enjoyed life.

Lindy will be dearly missed by her three children: Chance Whittaker, and Jacob and Eathan Simmons of home; mother, Ellen (Brian) Wilson of Mount Gilead; father, William “Will” Mullins of Morral; two sisters: Ronda (Jay) Atherton, and her twin, Windy (Scott) DePhillips, both of Mount Gilead; two brothers: Michael (Amber James) Scribner of Mount Gilead, and William “Bubby” Mullins of Morral; maternal grandmother, Myrtle Francine Hall Schofield of Mount Gilead; paternal grandfather, Lee (Violet) Mullins of Ironton; boyfriend, Kristian Halley of Delaware; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Dwight “Mike” Torrey; and paternal grandmother, Dora Carol Mullins.

Her family will greet friends from 4 – 7 p.m. on Tuesday, December 22, at the Snyder Funeral Home, 76 S. Main St., Mount Gilead, where services honoring her life will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. Following the services, her family and friends are invited to a meal to continue sharing cherished memories at Virgil Schofield’s, 447 Dogwood Lane, Mount Gilead, Ohio.

Memorial contributions may be made to her children, and they may be sent in care of the funeral home.
