Linda L. Webb Shearer, age 76, of Chesterville, passed away Monday afternoon, June 17, 2019, at The James Cancer Hospital in Columbus.

On March 23, 1943, Linda was born in Mount Vernon, Ohio, daughter of the late Bev E. “Bud” and Grace F. (Bostic) Webb.  She graduated from Chesterville High School in the Class of 1961.

Linda enjoyed listening to music, especially Elvis Presley, Conway Twitty and The Challengers.  She loved to travel and see new places and things.  She was always on the go, hopping in the car and going somewhere.  Her favorite place to be was Puerto Rico.

She enjoyed bowling and was in several different leagues in Marion over the years.  She also belonged to and was active in the Moose and Eagles in Marion.

Linda loved her games and playing with the kids.  She especially enjoyed Canasta, Bingo and slot machines.  She was quite the people person and loved to talk.  She was a wonderful mom, grandma, and great-grandmother and cherished her role of a homemaker.  She was a billionaire with love and affection.

Linda will be dearly missed by her four children: Sandra (Walt) Thompson of Chesterville, Victoria (Rickey) Ward of Marion, Bobbie (John) Fox of Caledonia, Tony (Kindra) Shearer of Sunbury; 12 grandchildren: Kathleen (John) Hamilton Lee, David McCarty, Robert (Amanda) McCarty, Leslie McKnight, Nichole Huffman, Kacy Ward, John Fox II, Samantha (Kelly) Stevens, Tony Shearer II, Shon Shearer, Mikey Shearer, and Rocco Shearer; 20 great-grandchildren: Mark and Blayne Hamilton, Colten, Jayden, Landan, Shaylee, Paytan, Daekan and Alli McCarty, Eayen, Eythen and Eli McKnight, Aleeci and Brianna Huffman, Caisen Felske, Scarlet Stevens, Zaiden, Brody, Rayden and Kinnelly Shearer; a brother, Robert (Sue) Webb of Akron; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Shon Smith; a granddaughter, Amy Aldridge; a brother, Ernest (Charlene) Webb; and former husband, Victor E. Smith.

Linda’s family will greet friends from 4 – 7 p.m. on Friday, June 21, 2019, at the Snyder Funeral Homes, Craven Chapel, 67 N. Main St., Mount Gilead.  They will again greet friends there from 12Noon – 1:00 p.m on Saturday, June 22, 2019.  Services to honor and celebrate her life will be held there at 1:00 p.m. with eulogy by her son, Tony.   Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Chesterville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Snyder Funeral Homes to assist Linda’s family with funeral expenses.

  • My condolences to our family and anyone who new her. Our hearts are broken My grandma, my guardian angel she hung the moon and stars. She is perfect my best friend. I have a lifetime of memories and she will always be with me. I am the luckiest granddaughter this women is the true meaning of a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, family is what she loves and always willing to be there and help in anyway. Our mama Dave’s Granny! He was the only one could call her granny. Every single memory is wonderful. Our loss is heavens gain she will be with us all forever. She gave me my wish on her death bed I wanted one last hug and kiss and to talk to her. It was the most amazing moment in a room filled with love. I will love you always mama forever and ever amen.
