Linda Jean (Steck) Mills, age 56 of Delaware, died Friday morning, June 26, 2009 at Grady Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family.

She was born in Delaware on August 8,1952 to the late Carl H. Steck and Mary (Puttick) Steck of Delaware. A graduate of Delaware Hayes High School in 1970, she was a lifelong area resident. Linda began working at Beuhler’s Food Market in 1977 as a cashier and after 32 years was currently the head scanner in charge of pricing. She enjoyed bingo and going to the riverboat or casino to try her luck.

Linda was a very loving and caring person, her family meant everything to her, especially her grandchildren. She was like a mother hen to all who knew her putting their care and concerns ahead of her own. She enjoyed sitting around a good campfire with her family and friends enjoying hot dogs and smores.

Survived by her husband of 30 years: William “Bill” Mills, they were married June 24, 1979 in Delaware; mother: Mary Steck of Delaware; daughter: Denise E. Kendrick of Delaware, step-son: Charles (Sue) Mills of Marysville, step-daughter: Pamela Ruth Burden of Independence, MO, grandchildren: Jarrett and Breanna, step-grandchildren: Ashleigh, Brittney, Jake, Chelsea, Joshua, Abigail, Trevor; brothers and sisters: C. Edward (Karen) Steck, Scott (Debbie) Steck, Sue Steck, Sandy VanGundy, Forrest (Deena) Steck, Tim (Rochelle) Steck, brother-in-law: Harry Swope all of Delaware. Numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded by her father: Carl H. Steck on November 14, 2006; Sister: Judy Swope on March 30, 2009, grandparents: Forrest W. and Emma (Kline) Steck and James and Mary (Wilson) Puttick Sr.

Friends may call Monday from 4-8 p.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 75 W. William St. (SR 36), Delaware, where services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Mark Puttick officiating, burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.
