June 08, 1921 ‒ September 18, 2015

Marengo, Ohio

Lillian “Granny” Weaver, age 94, of Marengo died peacefully, Friday morning, September 18, 2015 at home.

She was born on June 8, 1921 in Fincastle, Virginia the daughter of the late Willie Ruth and Ura (Nininger). When she was 7 years old her family moved to Ohio and she has lived here ever since.  Lillian graduated from Marengo High School in the class of 1939.

On March 24, 1941 she married Merrill E. Weaver.  Together they celebrated the birth of 12 children and 33 years together as husband and wife before his death on December 23, 1974.

Lillian’s whole world was her children and her many, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; a number that has swelled to 105!  Somehow, she found time to embroider pieces for members of her family. She managed to never miss a birthday or anniversary with a card in the mail.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Mary Ruth (Robert Lynn) Penn of Garland, Texas, Gene (Bonnie) Weaver of Marengo, Linda (Sam) Wilson of Marengo, Willie (Carolyn) Weaver of Sunbury, Mae Weaver of Marengo, Kenneth (Diana) Weaver of Marengo, Samuel (Gayle) Weaver of Centerburg, Keith (Chris) Weaver of Centerburg, Denise (John) Pennington of Marengo, and Crystal (John) Shoemaker of Marengo; 27 grandchildren, 70 great grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and her husband she was preceded in death by two children Ray Weaver and Helen Nicholson, and a Great-Granddaughter, Brooklyn Marie Weaver, along with her siblings Alvy, Harry, Ruth, and Lillian’s twin sister Leah.

Friends may call on the family on Monday, September 21, 2015 from 4-8 PM at the Devore-Snyder Funeral Home, 637 North State Route 61, Sunbury, Ohio 43074.  Funeral services will be held there on Tuesday at 11:00 AM with Pastors David Smith and Ken Mosser officiating.  Burial will follow in Butter Cemetery in Marengo.
