Cardington, Ohio

Lillian A. Moore, 74, of Cardington died Thursday November 19, 2009 in the emergency room of the Morrow County Hospital.

She was born in Ellijay, Georgia, the daughter of the late Tabor and Minnie (Patterson) Dale and was one of 10 children.

After the death of her twin siblings and the sudden illness of her Mother, Lillian at age 12 was forced to quit school and help her father raise her other brothers and sisters.

At age 22 she moved to Ohio and has now lived in Cardington for 31 years.

On April 24, 1976 she married James D. Moore in Columbus, Ohio; a union and friendship spanning 33 years.

Her life’s roles included wife, mother, homemaker, and also custodian for the Cardington-Lincoln Schools for over 10 years.

As a member of the Paradise Chapel Free Will Baptist Church in Mansfield, Lillian was a woman with true Christian values and her love of the Lord radiated in her actions toward others. Her kindness, warmth, and compassion were second to none. Her daughter said, “She would give you her last dollar, and at times she was sure she had”.

In her spare time she enjoyed reading romance novels and the Guide Post.

While she will be greatly missed by her family, Lillian was ready to spend eternity with her Lord and Savior.

She is survived by her husband James of Cardington; children and their spouses Bill and Barbara Patterson of Corinth, Texas, David and Linda Patterson of Mount Gilead, Gary and Pamela Patterson of Cardington, Vickie and Kurt Rykwalder of Mount Gilead, and Timothy and April Patterson of Cardington; 8 grandchildren Michael, Johnathon, Jessica, Sarah, Ryan, Cody, Evan, and Riley; 1 great granddaughter Kaylynn; 2 brothers Hobert (Mary) Dale of Mount Libery and Jay (Betty) Dale of Georgia; 2 sisters Geneva (Elbert) Greene of South Carolina and Elondia (Charles) Chapman of Columbus; and a sister-in-law Cathy Dale of Georgia.
