Leva Ann Hedges, age 85, of Mount Vernon, OH, passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.  She was born in Crooksville, OH, on March 26, 1931 to the late Frank and Augusta (Hoops) Levering.

Leva was a member of the Gay St. United Methodist Church and the “Ladies Elks” of Mount Vernon.  She was a hard working Homemaker and loved baking, especially around the Holidays.  Leva enjoyed word puzzles; jig saw puzzles, feeding ducks at the duck pond and long rides in the fall.  She will be missed by her best pal, her canine companion Muffin.  Most of all Leva loved being around her family. 

Leva is survived by her son, David (Darla) Johnson of Cardington, OH; daughters, Sharon (Steven) Bross of Utica, OH, and Lynne (Roger Maharg) McDaniel of Mount Vernon, OH; 9 grandchildren, Kevin, Amy, Tom, Steven, Wade, Carrie, Greg, Jeff and Kaeli; 15 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Leva is preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Neal Johnson; second husband, George E. Hedges; 6 sisters and one brother. 

The family will receive friends from 10 AM until time of the funeral service at 11 AM on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Rd., Mount Vernon, OH, 43050.  Pastor Roger Tickle will officiate.  Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
