Stewart “Leroy” Swihart, age 74, of Fredericktown, passed away on Tuesday November 05, 2013 at the Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. He was born on September 16, 1939 in Fredericktown to Raymond and Donna (Morrison) Swihart.
Leroy was a member of the Batemantown United Methodist Church, Heart of Ohio Emmaus Community, a member of the Methodist Men and the East Ohio Conference as an active member. He grew up a farmer and was very active within the community of Fredericktown and Mount Vernon. Leroy retired from Ideal Electric in Mansfield after 38 years of service. He loved his trips to Florida with his wife of 55 years, Shirley as they would fish and enjoyed the sunsets. He was an all-around loving person and would do anything for anyone in need. He enjoyed being involved with anything that he could get his hands on, but most of all he loved being around his family.
Leroy is survived by his wife Shirley Jean (Whited) Swihart; four children, Brad (Kathy) Swihart, Randy (Andrea) Swihart, Rayma (Phil) Ruhl and Patsy Ocheltree; 9 grandchildren, Nikki, Zach, Justin, Ashley, Aaron, Evan, Elyse, Celeste and Bailey; 8 great-grandchildren; a sister, Lennore (Jim) Wilson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents Leroy is preceded in death by a sister, Karen Hulse.
The family will observe calling hours on Friday, November 8, 2013 from 5-7 pm and on Saturday, November 9, 2013 from 11 a.m. until the time of a Memorial Service celebrating the life of Leroy at 1:00 pm at the Snyder Funeral Home, 33 East College St, Fredericktown with Pastor David Spaulding officiating.
