Leonard Reed Johnson, age 60, of Mount Vernon, OH, passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at the Country Club Care Center in Mount Vernon, OH, surrounded by his 4 sisters. He was born on November 11, 1957 in Mount Vernon, OH, to the late Charles C. and Doris M. (McCune) Johnson.

Leonard graduated from the Knox County Career Center in 1976 and then went to truck driving school. He drove trucks for many years to see the country, but was most proud of teaming up for over 20 years with his brother, Leon.  He loved his antiques, motorcycles, cars, fishing and camping.  He enjoyed dressing up as Santa Claus and handing out cookies and candy canes to family and friends.  His favorite thing was to have a Ron’s Pizza and wash it down with a Root Beer.

He is survived by his siblings, Deloris Franz, Barbara (John) Streby, Leon (Delores) Johnson, Sue (John Kennard) Lamb, Faith (Mark) Dulaney; and many nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, Leonard is preceded in death by a brother in law, Jerry Franz.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, November 17, 2017 from 12:00 – 2:00 PM at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home; 201 Newark Rd, Mount Vernon, OH, 43050, with a graveside service starting at 2:30 PM at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens with Pastor Patrick Bailey officiating.
