Leonard Lee “Lenny” Pierce

LEXINGTON: Leonard Lee “Lenny” Pierce, 66, of Lexington passed away Monday evening, February 9, 2015 in the emergency department of Ohio Health MedCentral Mansfield Hospital.

The son of Bernard and Wanda (Pierman) Pierce, Lenny was born December 6, 1948 in Kalamazoo, Michigan.  A military veteran, Lenny served in the Army during the Vietnam War.  Honorably discharged, he received the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal and Bronze Star Medal.

Moving from Michigan to Ontario in 1994, Lenny retired from the General Motors Ontario Plant.

He enjoyed watching football and cheering for the Detroit Lions.  A NASCAR fan, his favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt Sr.  Lenny was a member of the VFW Robert Castor Post #5101-Lexington, and the Lexington Moose Lodge #2511.

He is survived by his son Benjamin Pierce of Mansfield and daughter Elizabeth “Betsy” Pierce Carns of Mansfield; grandchildren Hunter and Ella Carns; mother Wanda Pierce of Michigan; step sons Aaron Newman of Mansfield and Mathew Campbell of Lexington; step grandchildren Ashley and Justin Newman; sisters Pamela Miller and Valerie (Barry) Skiles all of Michigan; special lifelong friend Terry Grupe of Lexington; nieces, nephews and extended family.

Along with his father, Lenny was preceded in death by his wife Sandra Pierce and brother Dennis Pierce.

The family will receive friends Friday, February 13, 2015 from 5-8pm in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where funeral services will begin at 8pm.  Celebrant Jerry Wilson will officiate and military honors performed by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail will follow funeral services.

Memorial contributions to VFW Robert Castor Post #5101 may be made through the funeral home.
