Leona M. Searles

Leona M. Searles, age 86 of Delaware died Wednesday evening, March 14, 2001 at Wintersong Village, Delaware following an extended illness.
She was born on May 26, 1914 in Columbus to the late Clovis and Lucinda Hutchinson Houston. Leona moved to Delaware in 1989 from the Northside of Columbus. She had worked for J I Case, Highlights for Children, and Capital Sales as a office worker and in the inventory control depts., retiring in 1982. She and her family had also owned and operated the Sunbury Grill in the late 1940’s. Member of Zion United Church of Christ.
Survive by her 2 daughters: Shirley A. (Paul) Holt of Delaware, Janet L. Gallogly of Delaware, 4 Granddaughters: Terry L. (John) Reeves, Fonda Phelps, Brenda (Bill) Kuba, Susan (David) DeVault, 6 Great-grandchildren,
Sister: Mary Champ of Columbus.
Preceded in death by 1st husband: Harold J. Nichols in 1959, whom she married Nov. 12, 1930, 2nd husband: Arlo Searles in 1977, whom she married Feb. 4, 1972, Son-in-law: Gordon Gallogly in 1996, and a sister: Dorothy Greff.
Friends may call Sunday 2-5 p.m. at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 75 W. William St. (SR 36) Delaware, where funeral services will be held Monday 1:00 p.m., Interment will follow in Otterbein Cemetery, Westerville.
