Lenah Virginia Price, age 94, of Mount Gilead, died Sunday morning, September 27, 2015, at Woodside Village Care Center.

She was born November 29, 1920 in Marion, OH to Charles and Cleo (Rinehart) Shafer, and has lived in the Mount Gilead area for the last 80 years.

Mrs. Price was a 1938 graduate of Iberia High School and the Mansfield Business College.

She was employed in the Morrow County Court House for 37 years. She was Chief Deputy in the Morrow County Auditor’s office for four years; the Morrow County Board of Education office for 9 years; and was Chief Deputy and Juvenile Probation Officer in the Morrow County Juvenile Court for 24 years during the entire term of the Honorable Judge, Gale B. Weller. She retired December 31, 1986 and later worked part time at D’Anne’s Hallmark Store and Mary K’s Flower Shop in Mount Gilead.

She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church; United Methodist Women’s Organization; a member of Knox Chapter #236 Mount Vernon Order of Eastern Star, having served as Worthy Matron in 1973, and was appointed Deputy Grand Matron of District 12 of the Grand Chapter of Ohio in 1977. She was also a Past Worthy High Priestess and Past District Deputy of Marion Shrine #15 Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem. She was a member of the Morrow County Business and Professional Women’s Club (Assoc. of Business Women) in Mount Gilead; and a former member of Baku Grotto Auxiliary in Mansfield, OH and Senior Progress Club.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Connie Sue and Ronald Belt of Mesquite, NV; one grandson, Bradley Kipp Belt and Denise Belt of Big Fork, MT; one sister-in-law, Joan Shafer of Marion, OH; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lester A. Price, on June 15, 1997; and one brother, Delbert Shafer.

A memorial service with Eastern Star services will be held at Rivercliff Cemetery in Mount Gilead at a later date.
