Leland M. Hathaway, age 97, of Follin Road, Fredericktown, passed away on Wednesday, October 6, 2010 in his farm home in Middlebury Township. He was born February 15, 1913 in Knox County to Lloyd and Neva (Murphy) Hathaway. He was a member of the Waterford Church of Christ and belonged to the Knox County Trustee and Clerk Association, Middlebury Grange and Local Farm Council.
He will be remembered as a quiet, kind, honest and hardworking man. He devoted his life to taking care of his family and his farm. His faith guided his actions and he set an example for others to follow. He enjoyed spending time in his wood working shop, going on trips with friends and most especially attending his grand kids’ and great grand kids’ sporting events. He was indeed a loving and caring dad, grandpa, and great grandpa who will be greatly missed by family, friends, and neighbors.
He is survived by two daughters, Connie (Al) Arens and Ronda Hathaway; a daughter in law, Lela Hathaway; grandchildren Dan (Deb) Hathaway, Kim (Melissa) Hathaway, Gary (Karla) Arens and Cheryl (Mitchell) Bir; great grandchildren, Ryan, Tyler, Sydney, Dustin and Austin Hathaway, Adelyn and Nate Arens and Camryn and Lauren Bir.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife and life long partner Lorilla, son Darel and brother Donald.
Friends may call on Monday, October 11, 2010 from 4 – 8 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home, 33 E. College Street, Fredericktown, Ohio 43019 where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Forest Cemetery.
