Leland Bernard Wells, 81, of Mt. Gilead, died early Monday morning at the Delaware Court Health Care Center. He was born April 22, 1925 in Delaware County to Benjamine Wells and Effie (nee Bale) Wells and was a World War II United States Navy veteran. He was former owner/operator of Custom Plumbing Company and then D & L Builders. He enjoyed gardening and his tree farm. He was an avid OSU Buckeye fan who enjoyed his newspaper, coffee, and sports. He is survived by 2 daughters, Sharon (Lon) Pepple of Rogers, Arkansas and Debbie (Terry) Baumgardt of Baltimore; son, Terry Wells of San Diego, California; 5 grandchildren and several greatgrandchildren; 1 sister, Wilma Noble of Delaware; 2 brothers, Don Wells of Johnstown and Bob Wells of Ft. Myers, Florida; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Dolly G. Wells on March 7, 2001 and 3 brothers Ted, Dave, and Pete Wells. The family will receive friends on Thursday November 9th from 5 – 8 pm at the Rodman Neeper Funeral Home, Bennett Brown Chapel, 1510 W. William St., Delaware. Graveside services will be held on Friday November 10th at 11:00 am at Africa Cemetery with the Delaware County Veterans Association providing military honors. Contributions may be made to the Morrow County Humane Society.
